QUBE Members Enterprise Agreement Update – SURVEY
As advised in our last Newsflash, QUBE stated at our last EA meeting that 70% of employees/members were happy with the current rostering provisions.
No proof of this claim was given to your delegates at the meeting, and this assertion is inconsistent with the numerous rostering issues members included in our Log of Claims.
As a result of the Company’s claims, your Loco Division Negotiation Delegates decided to conduct a survey of QUBE members regarding the major unresolved or outstanding Rostering Issues and the results are in.
We were going to present these results yesterday to QUBE Management, but QUBE cancelled the EA meeting at late notice and have tentatively re-scheduled for the 14 October.

Q8 – What do you like or don’t like about Available Days – multiple responses, including, they are being abused from QUBE Rostering, too many being used even after being rostered for more than 76hrs in a fortnight, and not being able to plan your family life or social life.
Q9 – What issues have you encountered around Available Days – multiple responses including, having my rostered shift cancelled and then made to sign on the available day, insufficient notice to work, working into the Available day, and being rostered 2 or more available days in a row.
Q10 – Are you happy with the amount of RDO’s – 57.63% YES
Q11 – Do you receive your Golden Weekends as per the EA – 42.37% NO Q12 – Do you like Lift up/Lay Back – 77.97% NO
Q13 – What is the maximum lift-up and lay-back times you think is fair for Train Crew to be available before attracting penalty rates? – Majority have indicated that 1hr Lift Up and 2hrs Lay Back, then anything outside these parameters results in the entire shift paid at O/T.
Q14 – Have you been Lifted-up or Laid Back and your original job was given to someone else? 67.8% YES
The survey results have contradicted QUBE’s assessment that over 70% of employees/members are happy with the current rostering. It’s now time that QUBE’s Management and Rostering Personnel start to listen and fix the many issues outlined within your Log of Claims.
