PN: ORIGINAL CAT A SPAD NOTICE RESCINDED

In the afternoon of Tuesday 18 February 2020, the RTBU National Office was advised that Pacific National has rescinded the original CAT A SPAD notice (issued on 5 February 2020).

This decision is a direct result of RTBU Members standing together and demanding a reasonable directive and respectful dialogue from PN. Hopefully, from here on in we can work together when it comes to important safety issues.

A new, updated CAT A SPAD Notice is being issued which will supersede the old Notice.

Changes include:

  • specifically identifying the employees who are affected by the notice
  • correct (and not impossible to achieve) instructions that reflect current SPAD procedures
  • language that matches the Memo

The roll-out of the new SPAD notice will also be delivered in person, one-on-one as per PN’s CAT A procedures.

RTBU Members are reminded, as in life, to not sign anything until you are completely sure of what is being asked. If you need anything clarified or explained in more detail, ask. If there are concerns around specific loops, or sidings that pertain to the Notice, raise them.

If you feel pressured, coerced or threatened to sign this Notice before you have satisfactorily had it explained to you, contact your local Delegate or Organiser.

As the new Notice has addressed the concerns of RTBU Members, the National Dispute has been lifted.
