Sydney Metro cost huge blowout

Not surprisingly, the cost for the Metro rail project has blown out by $4.3 billion – an estimated total of $16.8 billion according to an internal review from Sydney Metro.

The forecasted date of completion is 2024 although at the rate it’s going, one can’t be too sure about that.

Laughably, initial forecasts had not budgeted for the temporary transport needed during endless delays, cancellations and construction during the project which added almost $220 million. A project under this government without any glitches? Unlikely!

“This is a complete mess from an utterly incompetent government who has shown that they don’t care about wasting taxpayer dollars. A complete embarrassment to rival the cost blowout from the Sydney light rail,” said RTBU NSW Loco Division Secretary Bob Hayden.

“The extra $4.3 billion could have gone to schools and hospitals and instead it’s gone down the drain of incompetence. They need to start consulting those directly affected by their projects.”
