PN Coal advise of contract loss and redeployment options

 In these troubled times it is unfortunate that last week Pacific National Coal advised employees at Inner Harbour Depot that their depot numbers would need to be reduced due to the loss of one of their local contracts. The contract has been awarded to a competitor. 

A number of redeployment options have been advised including short term temporary transfers. PN have advised they will be having individual conversations with all affected employees to discuss these options. 

The company has issued a formal notice of consultation as required under the enterprise agreement. Under the consultation provisions members and the union have the opportunity to formally submit questions; the company is then required to respond in writing to the issues and questions raised. 

Members are asked to consider the options put forward by the company and contact your local delegate and or your Locomotive Division Organiser should you have any questions or require assistance. 

The Locomotive Division will be working closely with your local delegate and having conversation with management to ensure members are transitioned to other employment with as little impact as is possible. 

We understand this decision is likely to put more pressure on individuals and their families and remind members to take advantage of the company’s employees assistance program should they need.
