New Intercity Fleet negotiations continue

Negotiations continue into the operational details of the New InterCity Fleet but as these pictures from South Korea show, the manufacturing stage is now at a point that allows the first carriage consists to be Locomotive-hauled.

This will provide the basis for preliminary dynamic testing, subject to risk based analysis. However, in the interest of our members, the Locomotive Division will continue to sit at the table with the rail entity to ensure those risk based analysis are conducted within the NSW InterCity network.

This is to uphold the Australian cab standards hard fought for by the Locomotive Division to ensure the cab environment is ‘fit for purpose’ and consistent with the current modern NSW passenger rolling stock. And to ensure the drivers proposed workload in cab design will not impact on driver fatigue and allow the safe management of the New InterCity Fleet.
