Loco delegates taking action for expecting mums at Sydney Trains

Arising from a recent Dispute at Central, Locomotive Division Delegates have worked with Sydney Trains to develop and implement additional policies to help expectant mothers within the driver’s ranks and offer increased support for those returning following maternity leave.

This Dispute, initiated after Sydney Trains, again, forced a pregnant Member to unreasonably clear sick leave, highlighted that Sydney Trains was grossly under equipped to provide the support these members needed. Spurred on by this, a group of proactive and passionate Loco Division Representatives at the Central Depot campaigned for, and developed, policy in this area.

The Division would like to commend and congratulate those Members and Representatives involved in making positive change for Members in need.

The newly developed policy is currently sitting with Sydney Trains for review prior to implementation. Members will be informed when these formalised processes are adopted.
