The New Zealand Railways Staff Welfare Trust has 29 holiday homes in locations throughout New Zealand in which RTBU members are eligible to stay.

These locations include Pahia, Orewa, Mount Maunganui, Rotorua, Wellington and Queenstown all with resident caretakers.

At Queenstown sheets and towels are supplied, while at other locations you’ll need to supply your own. The cost for a week is NZS$335, plus a NZ$40.00 cleaning fee.

The New Zealand Railways Staff Welfare Trust was originally established in 1958 to provide assistance and benefits to people employed within the rail industry. The trust is governed by four RMTU (Rail, Maritime and Transport Union – NZ) and four KiwiRail nominated reps.
