Keep Freight on Aussie Trains – Campaign Update

Apr 19, 2021Update

Have you got your KFOAT sticker yet?

The future of intermodal rail is under threat from a Federal Government proposal to allow more foreign container ships into the country to undercut Australian freight operators. This could decimate your industry. RTBU Members have been showing their support for rail freight jobs by displaying their Keep Freight on Aussie Trains bumper sticker. Stickers are available from your State Branch, or from National Organiser Leanne Holmes.

Make sure you snap a selfie with your sticker and send it to your local organiser!

National Zoom Meeting

A Delegation ofRTBU members went to Canberra before Easter to talk to politicians from across the political spectrum. Our members told the pollies about the risks to rail jobs from allowing more foreign ships to carry containerised freight between Australian ports.

A national zoom meeting for will be held on Tuesday 27 April at 12 noon (EST) to discuss the outcomes of those meetings, and the next steps in our campaign.

The meeting is open to all members who work in intermodal freight – including Drivers, Maintainers, Train Controllers, Network Controllers, Operation Coordinators (IPS), and Train Crew at PN, SCT, Qube, Aurizon, Momentum, OneRail, Trojan, Railtrain, SSR, ARTC, TasRail, Bowmans, Crawfords. and all intermodal companies.

Contact National Organiser Leanne Holmes at lholmes@rtbu.org.au to book your spot on the zoom meeting.
