Emergency Evacuation Training

The Locomotive Division representatives through the Driver Training Committee have been consulting regarding the 2018 Train Crew Continuation Training Emergency Evacuation course which commenced on 27 May 2018.

This training will refresh Driver knowledge and skills relating to Emergency and Evacuation procedures and general responsibilities, including:

SPAD Awareness and fatigue. Roles and responsibilities in emergency and evacuation situations. Network communication and first call procedures; Emergency procedures, fire safety risk assessments and dealing with fires on trains. Procedures for evacuating passengers from trains in controlled and uncontrolled scenarios. The use of and safe installation procedures for emergency stairs and ladders.

The course will start at Central for the 1st half and then move to Bondi Junction for practical training. You will be required to sign on at TCAC at the time specified on your roster. A Standards Officer will meet you at TCAC and will accompany you to the allocated training room (The Bradfield Room Central Concourse). The course will then move to Bondi Junction where the practical activities will take place in the tunnel environment. PPE is required.

In the immediate future there may be courses rostered for Eveleigh so as the training need is met in relation to numbers of drivers / guards to be trained.

A pilot course was undertaken with positive results and we thank those members who participated and for the constructive feedback. Course ware and documents were reviewed and changes identified have been made.
