East Hills track hazard

Sep 27, 2011Update

Due to the continued duplication works on the East Hills line, the tracks will be slewed at Salt Pan Creek from the original configuration across to the newly constructed bridge.

This will involve almost a kilometer of changed track and signal movements from pole mounted to gantry mounted, with speed boards remaining high.

Obviously these changes pose a potential safety hazard and the RTBU was successful in gaining the use of pilots to assist crew in navigating the changes, along with a full briefing before the start of any journey. Members are advised to ensure they use the pilots provided and attend the necessary briefings.

Additionally, owing to the removal of the additional six-minute sign-on time for ETR drivers, members are reminded that any briefing given must not be allowed to occur during the 10-minute sign on period. Members should advise the briefing officer that additional time outside of this 10-minute period should be made available for the briefing.
