DOOs and Don’ts

PN Intermodal drivers based at Junee in southern NSW are deeply concerned about PN’s plans to introduce Driver Only Operation (DOO) out of the depot.

Last year, PN flagged closing the depot entirely, then backtracked and said it could be kept open if drivers agreed to Driver Only Operation.

Whilst alternate options where proposed by Junee members, PN have rejected these and decided to pursue DOO, which members feel was always the intention.

They fear the introduction of DOO at Junee – about which they have strong safety and job security concerns – would lead to its implementation statewide.

The Loco Division is continuing to attend regular meetings about the possible implementation of DOO between Junee and Melbourne and is continuing to strongly represent the views and concerns of members.
