Sacked for Speeding via GPS.

Locomotive Division Members are advised of a recent incident that ended with one of our Members being sacked. The Pacific National Member was driving a call vehicle and had an activation of the eye detection system that was fitted in the vehicle.

When activated it also showed the car exceeding the speed limit. Management downloaded the GPS system from the vehicle and used that information to substantiate the speed event and execute the termination.

Whilst the Locomotive Division will be representing/assisting the Member concerned, we urge all Members to be aware of all technologies being used by their employer and the information the technology can/will provide the Employer.
