A farewell to the Carlingford rail line
One of Sydney’s most historic train lines is going to be closed as the Parramatta Light Rail project takes over. The Carlingford line is being given a fond farewell by thousands of commuters as it makes its final journey in early January.
The farewell event is being arranged by a Parramatta councillor for Saturday, January 4 at 11am and thousands have registered to come along.
“Our old rail lines are still fond to many as they’ve always provided reliable and consistent services. It would’ve been nice to see them updated instead of shoved aside for the next big thing. It sure is a big price to pay for a light rail project hindered by delays and a lack of funding,” said Bob Hayden, RTBU NSW Loco Division Secretary.
