SMH news: $1 million for TAHE office space, no money for worker wage rises
The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that the Transport Asset Holding Entity (TAHE) is splashing $1 million a year on plush new offices in the CBD, despite being just blocks away from rent-free space in a building owned by the corporation.
This is another slap in the face to rail workers who have been fighting for a proper and decent wage rise. Instead, the State Government allows TAHE to waste millions on bureaucratic office space two years after an investigation found the corporation was being used to artificially inflate the budget and could potentially put rail safety at risk.
