Werris Creek barracks gone and hopefully forgotten
After years of complaints and members suffering substandard conditions, PN Coal have mothballed Werris Creek Barracks and have relocated crews to the privately run Henrys Guest House at Quirindi. Member feedback so far has been positive and they welcome Local Coal management’s decision to finally do something. Coal management have indicated they could not unequivocally close the Barracks as they are owned by the Freight Group and therefore could only be “mothballed”. Having said that, member feedback is that no self-respecting moth would reside in them in any case and would probably die from mesothelioma if they did!
PN Coal management have also recently advised that the Lithgow barracks will no longer be used by Coal employees either as they do not meet standards.
