Fume Events Pacific National Coal & Freight

Members have recently reported a marked increase of fume incidents on 92 and 93 class locomotives when traversing tunnels.

The RTBU Locomotive division is currently assisting your health and safety representatives to progress this matter with the regulators, however in the interim it is important that all members report locomotive fumes entering the Loco cabin to supervisors, IPS incidents and train control. It is also very important that members also submit a hazard report. (Green form) Copies of these should be sent to your HSR and the union.

Anyone who feels ill in anyway from the effects of fumes should seek medical advice immediately. Don’t risk yours or any one else’s health by driving a train or motor car if you feel affected.
