Sydney Rail Services (SRS) – EA Update

The RTBU Locomotive Division was meant to meet with SRS yesterday but the meeting did not go ahead. It is our intention to meet with SRS over the next couple of weeks in order to progress negotiations.

The reason that the RTBU Locomotive Division did not meet with SRS was due to several conversations that we have had with members, whereby a number of industrial and work practices that are occurring within SRS were brought to our attention.

In 2018, the RTBU commenced negotiations with SRS as there was not an Enterprise Agreement (EA) in place and both parties agreed that it was in the best interests of members to have an EA up and running as soon as possible so that you would be able to work under conditions that could be protected and enforced. However, since having had discussions about SRS’ operations and your working conditions with a number of members, we have decided that it would be better to speak to as many SRS members as possible prior to meeting with SRS again in order to properly understand what issues need to be addressed. This is so that your EA accurately reflects the work that you do, protects these rights accordingly and achieves an industry standard EA that you deserve. 

We will be organising teleconferences or meetings and as soon as we are able to confirm dates and times, and will send out a bulletin with all relevant information. If you are unable to participate in either, make sure that you get in touch with the RTBU Locomotive Division in order to ensure that your voice is heard and your concerns dealt with during bargaining.
