Stop the Sell Off of Electricity

Oct 24, 2011Uncategorized

Before the last state election, Barry O’Farrell said “we have absolutely no plans to privatise either the generators or the poles and wires”.

But now, with the Government’s “Tamberlin Inquiry” expected to recommend a full sale of NSW electricity assets, big business is going all out to push the O’Farrell Government to go ahead and sell the lot.

Come along to a public meeting in your area to support our community and voice your concerns. Of particular concern is that privatisation will put these monopoly assets in the hands of the private companies who may use the opportunity to pursue profit ahead of our community interests. This will lead to higher electricity prices and massive job losses throughout the sector.

The details of the meetings are as follows:

Wollongong: Tues 25 Oct, , Master Builders Club, 61 Church Street Wollongong, 6pm

Bathurst: Tues 25 Oct, Bathurst Panthers, 132 Piper St, 5:30pm

Western Sydney: Wed 26 Oct, 6pm, Waratah Room, Rooty Hill RSL, 55 Sherbrooke St, Rooty Hill, 6pm

Central Coast: Wed 26 Oct, Coral Room, Gosford RSL, 26 Central Coast Highway, West Gosford, 6pm

Newcastle: Thurs 27 Oct, , Auditorium, Newcastle Panthers, Cnr King and Union Streets, Newcastle West, 6pm

St George & Shire: Thurs 27 Oct, Sutherland District Trade Union Club, 57 Manchester Road Gymea, 6pm
