Early Xmas Present from Sydney Trains Management – Grinch?

Trainee Driver members recently were advised that they would have to take leave over the Xmas/New Year break even if they had no accumulated leave, which would have meant that trainees would have to take leave without pay over this period.

A miscommunication was the excuse given for the email sent out to trainees but the original understanding will be the agreed outcome.

Trainees can take any accumulated leave if they choose to, or could take unpaid leave if they choose to, or they will be rostered with driver trainers or will review roads or will perform other duties associated with the driving course.

The Locomotive Division would like to congratulate the number of driver trainers and trainees who alerted the Locomotive Division to this potential denial of pay conditions. United we will always protect the legal rights of members.
