Why can’t we build trains in NSW?
The Victorian Government has signed a $1.85 billion dollar deal with French company Alstom to build 100 trams in Melbourne, featuring 65% of locally manufactured components.
It’s good to see a Government committing to manufacturing in their state, securing jobs and actually consulting with Tram Drivers and end users.
It is a stark difference to the NSW Government, TfNSW and NSW Trains incompetent decision/s to outsource manufacturing overseas, allowing skilled manufacturing jobs to disappear overseas and seek to bludgeon Train Drivers and Guards into working a substandard, not fit for service and unsafe new train.
If Victoria can build trams, New South Wales should be able to build trains!
