Update – Drivers Diagram Alteration Dispute
The Loco Division would like to provide an update on current disputes regarding alterations to driver’s diagrams. The unprecedented number and scope of alterations currently being experienced by drivers are, in the view of the Loco Division, unwarranted and unfair.
Sydney Trains have attempted to enact a clause of the Drivers Rostering and Working Arrangements historically used to provide additional flexibility to maintain operations when faced with a major disruption i.e. a line closure due to a natural disaster.
The Loco Division denounces and rejects Sydney Trains’ interpretation of the DRAWA as disingenuous. It is also disappointing that Sydney Trains refuses to acknowledge the hard work and good will displayed by Drivers; choosing to instead take further liberties through misapplication of agreed conditions.
The only disruption Sydney Trains currently faces is a self perpetuated driver shortage brought on by a lack of recruitment, over commitment to projects and a foolhardy devotion to a seemingly unachievable November timetable.
We will not stand for bastardisation of our industrial agreements. The Locomotive Division has engaged our lawyers and will escalate this issue as far as needed in order to enforce our rightful conditions of employment.
Members will be kept updated.
