Transfer policy upheld
RailCorp has agreed to advertise a vacant driver trainer’s position, after the Loco Division disputed the company’s attempted direct appointment.
RailCorp recently sought to directly appoint a suburban driver trainer into a vacant driver trainer’s position at the Sydney InterCity Depot. The division disputed it due to the fact that it denied drivers within the depot equal employment opportunity to fairly seek promotion under the Merit Selection Process.
Following several meeting with RailCorp, the dispute was then escalated to Fair Work Australia for a conciliation hearing on the 18th June.
Correspondence has since been received from RailCorp advising that they now intend to advertise the vacant position. The Loco Division would like to thank those involved in defending the agreed transfer policies and procedures.
