Train crew to go mobile

RailCorp recently held a meeting to discuss introducing tablets (Electronic device) for use by the train crew.

It was proposed that the tablets would be used to house things such route maps, TOM and OSP manuals and crew would be able to access them through the My Learning Zone (MLZ) website instead of the RailCorp Intranet.

This would also open up the opportunity for Safety Critical Documentation, rosters, diagrams, altered working etc to be accessed on the device. The devises would have ability to be updated by accessing the Intranet or My Learning Zone.

RailCorp is currently assessing the benefits of introducing the devices and determining what impact that would have on policies & procedures – for example the mobile phone policy.
