Timesheet disputes, NSW Trains
The RTBU has been called upon to deal with two disputes in NSW Trains regional operations recently – both of which have ended well for members.
Both disputes revolved around certain managers changing the requirements for timesheet compilation and submission. In once instance, they sought to have drivers scan and email their uncertified timesheets to the time-keepers and in the other they requested that for drivers submit timesheets when they are on annual leave. Both of the proposals were put forward without any consultation with affected members.
Obviously both proposals are ludicrous, considering that no wages are paid off uncertified timesheets, and that if a driver is taking management approved annual leave, there’s no way timesheets can be physically completed or should even be required.
Thanks to the union representatives, both of these proposals have now been stopped.
