Popular satire news site The Betoota Advocate has taken a jab at NSW Transport Minister David Elliot following a turbulent lead up to the NSW Government conceding on changes to the NIF on Wednesday 29 June.
Former Police Minister turned Transport Minister, David Elliott MP, has been forced to put forward a $264 million offer to fix a fleet of trains that has been at the centre of the dispute with the RTBU – after realising that antagonising the unions in the Murdoch media does nothing but escalate hostilities. The Betoota Advocate, NSW Liberals Greatest Political Mind, David Elliott MP, Surprisingly Humiliated By Rail Union
The RTBU began industrial action on 27 June in response to another roadblock in negotiations for they Sydney and NSW Trains EA, specifically around the union’s safety concerns about the NIF. After a Delegates meeting on Wednesday, the NSW Government ultimately backed down and agreed to making the changes needed to ensure that the NIF is safe for rail workers and commuters before running on the tracks.
Industrial action will continue while the RTBU completes its due diligence and goes through the NSW Government’s proposal in detail.
