The Norwegian National Union of Locomotivemen (NLF) is on strike over a key safety issue: a national common standard for locomotive drivers’ training.

Failure to agree on this issue has halted negotiations for a renewed Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the Norwegian State Railways (NSB).

Standardised training would make the railways safer and also remove unnecessary obstacles and allow drivers to be employed throughout the industry.

The RTBU Loco Division is standing with our colleagues in Norway on this issue. Safety should always be the priority and never be sacrificed to cut costs!
