Are you sick of the sound of election ads yet? Get used to it, because there’s still a long way to go.

While we all may cringe at the thought of seeing our political leaders’ heads on our televisions and newspapers everyday, the truth is that this is an important time. And being able to vote is a real privilege not afforded to everyone in the world.

We’ll be keeping a very close eye on what the parties have to say about issues that matter to Loco Division members – like infrastructure and public transport announcements and, of course, industrial relations – and doing our best to keep you across the latest.

First and foremost though, it’s important that you make sure you’re ready to vote on 2 July. If you’ve moved house or are voting for the first time, make sure you go to www.aec.gov.au to enrol or check your enrolment. The electoral roll closes at 8pm on Monday 23 May, so make sure you don’t miss out.

In other news, thank you very much to everyone who has already donated to the John Sotiriou Family Benefit Account.
