Secretary’s wrap
We always knew the Rail Entities negotiations were going to be tough – and we were right. However the overwhelming support and dedication from members has got us to a good point in the talks.
At recent workplace meetings, unprecedented numbers of members turned out to hear the latest updates and to provide feedback. It was a real testament to workers’ commitment to sticking together to fight for a fair deal.
We’re not there yet – there are still number of outstanding issues that the combined rail unions will continue to discuss with the company – however over the past weeks, members have shown a real commitment to getting the deal workers deserve.
It’s not just in the negotiation room that management have been taking a hard-line – at Moss Vale recently, workers were ordered to take their winter jackets off because they’re not part of the NSW Trains ‘new uniform’. That’s even despite the fact that it was below 0 degrees outside.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, please let us know straight away. We won’t stand for workers’ health and comfort being put at risk for the sake of ‘fashion’.
I trust you’ll enjoy this edition of Loco Express. Stay safe.
