Secretary’s wrap

Sep 18, 2015Secretary's run-down

The Loco Division BBQ has been on tour again – and as always, it’s been the catalyst for many great conversations and ideas around the how to improve working conditions in our industry.

The BBQ has been to a number of destinations including Taree, Acacia Ridge, Narrabri, Werris Creek and Muswellbrook on the leg of the tour. You can see all the tour dates and destinations here, so make sure you get along to the BBQ near you.

We’ve now met with Sydney Trains a number of times to discuss their desire to begin a process of reform, but we’re still none the wiser about what the company actually wants.

We’ve been presented with a number of documents (you can see them all in the article below), but their real relevance is still unclear. What is for certain is that Sydney Trains is heavily invested in this process and you can be certain to continue to receive glossy brochures from the company outlining why we need to change.

Remember, thanks to the clause in our EA, the things on the table cannot be changed without you voting for it.

We’ll continue to pass on all the information we get from the company as soon as it comes to hand. At the moment, that’s not much. Stay tuned.

Also, keep your eyes peeled for the very first edition of Around the Tracks – the Loco Division’s new hard copy newsletter – which should have started arriving in depots already..

I trust you’ll enjoy this edition of Loco Express and, as always, stay safe on the tracks.

Bob Hayden
Secretary, Loco Division
