Saturday train passenger numbers drop
The NSW Government’s recent overhaul of Opal fares has led to a dramatic decline in Saturday passenger numbers on all forms of public transport in Sydney – and trains were the worst affected.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, nine per cent fewer train trips were taken after their entitlement to free trips after every eight journeys was replaced with half price trips.
The drop in public transport usage on Saturday threatens to worsen already congested roads on weekends.
