RTBU Women’s Rights at Work

“It was fantastic to see the comradery on show at the RTBU Women’s Rights at Work event on the weekend, which was very well attended by Loco Division members. On Saturday 25th August I had the pleasure in attending the RTBU’s Women’s Rights At Work (WRAW) Chat. We spoke about issues relating to our experiences in a male dominated workplace and discussed options available to us to make these environments more inviting.It is great to see so many women breaking the stereotypes and showing the world that we are capable and empowered; our support network within this union is incredible.

The day started with an inspiring chat from Victoria’s RTBU Branch Secretary, Luba Grigorovitch. We then continued with group discussions about ways we can improve the workplace to be more diverse and inclusive. It seems only recently that women have come to join the industry in force, and now as the numbers grow, so does our network and strength.

It was inspiring to see so many passionate and involved women, celebrating what we have achieved and planning for the future. I thank every one of you that have come before me that have made this workplace accessible for more women to follow.
