Railcorp attempts to change maintenance centre train washes
RailCorp recently contacted the Loco Division sighting its intention to change the way train washes are conducted at maintenance centres.
The company proposes to have train washes “timetabled” and incorporated into diagrams so the incoming driver will be responsible for the train wash procedure – not the rostered shed/wash driver as is the current practice today.
This will obviously mean that the “wash” jobs currently associated with Maintenance Centre diagrams will no longer be necessary.
Members should understand that this is another attempt by RailCorp to increase drivers “footplate” time by freeing up drivers for more “revenue service” operations.
A meeting is planned for the 8 February 2013 to discuss this proposal and members will be kept informed of the outcomes.
