QUBE members EA update- voting now open

Jun 7, 2023Employer News QUBE

QUBE management continue to ignore member claims and concerns having now put out their inferior Enterprise Agreement for vote, yet again. Voting closes at 1800hrs on Thursday so members will have just 36 hours to send QUBE a strong message about what they expected in a replacement agreement.

Regarding QUBE’s correspondence dated 29th May 2023, we don’t believe that QUBE knows what a “Stalemate” is. It’s a position whereby an agreement is not possible, in this case, with several outstanding items on which agreement has not been reached, QUBE just needs to try harder.

QUBE’s correspondence also states that they are offering a “generous annual pay increases” of:

  • 6% for year 1
  • 4% for year 2
  • 4% for year 3
  • and backpay from 1st April 2023, but backpay is only on the negotiation table if you accept this inferior Agreement.

If this is so generous, then why is the gap between Pacific National Bulk Drivers getting bigger? PN’s recent EA has better rates of pay, higher annual increases, and a better overtime rate.

The New South Wales Premier, Chris Minns, just announced a pay freeze for politicians and senior officials. What a great opportunity for QUBE’s CEO, who is on millions of dollars per year, to follow this lead if QUBE needs to save money. YOU, however, deserve a better pay offer and better conditions than what QUBE is currently offering.

Regarding wage increases, QUBE has not considered the status of the Australian economy. Last week, yearly inflation was reported as 7%, Medical expenses have increased by 5.3% in the last year, similarly Education is up 5.4%, Energy prices will increase 20% in July 2023, Food and Alcohol up over 4.4%, Housing up 9.8%, Home loan repayments keep increasing, and Insurance is up 6.5%.

What has QUBE offered in the way of your Log of Claims? Absolutely NOTHING that sees benefits to your Work/Life Balance. QUBE’s wage offer is still nowhere close to your claim of 8% per year, nor has there been any movement on the rest of your Log of Claims.

Before Members returned the resounding 81% NO vote to QUBE’s inferior EA, Management were refusing to budge on pay or conditions. Your strength and solidarity have pushed them into a position where there has been some positive movement. A continued show of that same unity can make them move further!

Vote NO to QUBE’s inferior EA!
