QUBE Enterprise Agreement negotiation update
Negotiations continue before the Fair Work Commission
Yesterday, arising out of our application for an Intractable Bargaining order, we held the first supervised bargaining meeting in Newcastle before Deputy President Saunders of the Fair Work Commission.
The meeting was positive with both sides listening to their respective positions. The company took a more conciliatory approach than had previously been the case, with the focus being on wage outcomes and each side articulating clearly what they see as acceptable to reaching settlement on an EA moving forward. Whilst the parties are far apart, nothing has been ruled out.
A further meeting is scheduled before the Deputy President on the 19 July in Newcastle. As previously reported, the supervised meetings before Deputy President Saunders are scheduled across two more months before the Deputy President reports back in the Intractable Bargaining Proceedings. While it is hoped that agreement may be reached before then, members need to understand that this process may yet take some weeks.
Our other court actions remain ongoing as reported, with QUBE’s Variation Appeal listed to be heard on 9 July 2024 in Sydney.
We will keep members posted as we progress. Please speak to your local delegate should you have further questions.
