Qld government seeks new offence of “industrial manslaughter”
After two tragic incidents last year that cost six people their lives, the Queensland Government commissioned a Best Practice Review of Workplace Health and Safety. Among the recommendations was to create a new offence of industrial manslaughter, which they’ve introduced as a legislative change. Read the statement by the Palaszczuk Government here.
It’s great to see the Queensland Labor Government taking serious action to prevent workers from dying on the job and to prevent companies from hiding behind corporate structures and evading responsibility. If only the NSW Government had the same concerns!
