Professional Driving Handbook: Up-skilling drivers

RTBU loco division reps and members from the principal driver, driver trainer and driver ranks have been attending Professional Driving Handbook workshops. The workshops are part of an initiative to reduce the incidence of Signals Passed At Danger (SPADs).

The workshops formulate and document rules and guidelines that will assist drivers to develop a professional attitude to driving. The handbook is set to be formalised and rolled out in the near future.

Member feedback and input has been positive as they were given the chance to debate the issues from a driver’s perspective. The RTBU supports this initiative as a positive way of reducing safety incidents and to help develop the skills of drivers.
