New suburban trains on their way but NSW budget lacks new transport commitments
The NSW Budget confirms the Government will spend $658 million this year on the 24 new suburban trains they announced last June, with the first trains arriving late next year and their delivery to be completed by 2019.
But Labor transport spokeswoman Jodi McKay has criticised the budget for not mentioning the Government’s plans for a new metro line to Parramatta and said the Premier likes to make “grandiose infrastructure promises” but leaves them unfunded.
