Member profile: Eliott Hackett
Here we chat with long time RTBU Loco Division member, Eliott Hackett.
Why did you get involved in the union?
I first joined the RTBU 13 years ago when I first joined Freight Corp as a trainee driver. Now, as Junee depot delegate for Pacific National Intermodal, I believe in supporting the RTBU to ensure we all get the fair and equal pay and conditions we deserve.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I enjoy hunting, fishing, trying to play golf, renovating and spending time with family and friends.
What do you like most about your job?
At Junee we work off a forecast roster which is great, allowing you to plan ahead. Also, the drivers that I work with who are from Junee, Taree, Sydney, Melbourne and Parkes.
How long have you been in the industry?
I have been in the industry for 13 years.
Tell us about your most memorable train journey.
If I were to say one, it would be my first trip as a qualified driver and having a trainee driver as my second person. Other then that, just all the old stories that the older drivers share with you which usually give you a good laugh.
Who would like to have dinner with (dead or alive) and why?
First my family, I cherish every dinner that I can have with them even if I’m in trouble by the wife (boss). Second it would be Jimeoin, because I love a good laugh.
