London tube workers react to “savage cuts” with 24-hr strike
London Underground station staff are on strike over safety concerns caused by job cuts and ticket office closures. The 24 hour strike shut down most of London’s subway network on Monday.
“This action has been forced on us by savage cuts to jobs that have reduced London Underground to an under-staffed death trap at a time of heightened security and safety alert,” Mick Cash, general secretary of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union told The Australian.
