Liberal party to review workplace legislation ‘after the election’
A Liberal candidate has claimed that the party will review workplace relations legislation after the election – not before.
In response to a question about whether the Liberal party would re-introduce controversial ‘Work Choices’ legislation, candidate for Gilmore, Ann Sudmalis reacted angrily, telling an election forum that she couldn’t respond to the question until after September 7th.
“Any workplace relations legislation is on the table after the election not before, so sorry I can’t answer your question,” she said.
“It is exactly as it is right now right through to the election and it will be reviewed after the election and that has been made perfectly clear to everybody.”
The answer, and the angry reaction, raised concerns among many at the Bomaderry Bowling Club election forum, with some suggesting it sounded like a return to WorkChoices under a different name could be on the table.
