Last minutes taken at Newcastle station
The last ever RTBU union meeting was held at Newcastle Station last week, ahead of the NSW Government’s closure of the track.
The station has been home to AFULE, PTU and RTBU union meetings for decades, with many a plan and an important union decision being made within the station walls.
Unsurprisingly, the Government’s decision to rip up the rail into the Newcastle CBD was high on the agenda, with local representatives vowing to do whatever possible to get the Government to reverse its decision before the Boxing Day deadline.
The tradition will continue, with future meetings being held at the drivers’ new sign on locations (both temporary and when built, permanent).
