Hunter Loco Division backs in Jobs, Rights, Services
The Loco Division in the Hunter has thrown its support behind the Job, Rights, Services campaign, with a number of members and officials taking part in a recent campaign event which focused on the future of the region.
Daniel Wallace, Newcastle Trades Hall Secretary, addressed the crowd, speaking about the importance of the campaign and also the upcoming Newcastle by-elections and next year’s state election in ensuring job security and growth in the area.
Youth unemployment, cuts to TAFE, and the need to boost the local manufacturing industry were hot topics of discussions for the workers at the meeting, as was the Baird Government’s attempts to privatise our essential services and the plans to rip up the Newcastle rail line.
The Newcastle by-elections, which have been forced as a result of local MPs standing aside following ICAC investigations, will be held on October 25th.
