Barry O’Farrell – is he really a ‘do nothing’ Premier?

Mar 14, 2013Hot Topic

It’s almost two years since Barry O’Farrell was elected Premier of NSW. In that time, he’s been a bit of a ‘do nothing’ Premier – or has he?

Far from sitting back and doing very little at all as many people in the public seem to believe is the case, Barry O’Farrell has been very busy during his time as Premier – he’s been busy slashing jobs and services across the state.

He’s cut 15,000 jobs across the state, cut workers’ comp for injured workers, slashed $1.7 billion out of the education budget and $3billion out of our hospitals.

He’s sold our ferries and our ports and electricity generators are now up for grabs.

And as if that’s not enough, he’s also increased gas prices by 15 per cent, upped bus fares by 10 per cent, train fare by 8.5 per cent and our electricity costs by 38 per cent.

And that’s just the beginning.

To mark the two year anniversary of his time as Premier, unions across the state are joining together to highlight just what this so called ‘do nothing’ Premier has actually been up to.

Coordinated by Unions NSW, a road show will be taking place across NSW and actions will be staged at various locations to raise awareness of the O’Farrell Government’s attack on jobs and services.
