Acting higher grade, Mortdale drivers

Sydney Trains will soon have to begin recruitment of Driver Trainers at Mortdale, however the union has received correspondence from the company suggesting that they intend to offer some positions in this role to previous OSM’s who moved back to drivers roles following the recent reforms.

The company’s logic is that they are already paying these drivers salary maintenance, and they believe they have the required competencies to fill the role in the short term.

Sydney Trains has proposed to transfer four vacant Trainer Drivers positions from Flemington and Hornsby to Mortdale and have these previous OSM’s “act in a higher grade” at that location until March 2014.

Sydney Trains are proposing to recruit through the normal process to fill these positions however, this will take at least 5-6 months to complete.
