Secretary’s wrap
Recently we were delighted to hear the news that the Fair Work Commission has ruled in favour of the seven Loco Division members who were made forcibly redundant by PN in July 2015. The FWC rejected PN’s claims that the redundancies were genuine and remitted their unfair dismissal applications for a re-hearing.
Unfortunately, since then we’ve also heard the bad news that PN will be making redundancies at their Antiene depot. To mitigate the impact, we’re currently seeking any PN members who would consider a ‘VR swap’. You can read more about the FWC decision and the new round of redundancies in the Newsflash below.
Sydney and NSW Trains RTBU delegate training has now begun in preparation for upcoming bargaining for replacement Enterprise Agreements. Whilst no date has been set for when negotiations will commence the combined unions, through UnionsNSW, are undertaking a huge delegate training program which will be followed by a members survey to help develop our log of claims. We’ll keep you updated as this progresses.
Stay safe on the tracks,
Bob Hayden
Loco Division Secretary
