Secretary’s wrap
We can expect to be drug tested much more often from the end of April, with Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator recently announcing it is now beginning random testing of Rail Safety Workers in NSW.
Of course, testing is important to safety and the regulator does have a legal right to test workers, and the good news is that the tests will be via swab rather than urine samples.
If you have any concerns or questions about the testing, please don’t hesitate to contact the Loco Division office.
The Loco Division has been kept very busy with Pacific National lately, with the company announcing more voluntary redundancies – this time at PN Intermodal.
You can read all about the saga of voluntary redundancies in the articles below, but needless to say the union is unhappy with how the company has treated its employees and their families throughout this process. We’re seeking urgent meetings with the company in an attempt to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
I trust you’ll all enjoy this edition of Loco Express. Stay safe on the tracks.
