PN redundancy – members condemn company; company response
The RTBU recently wrote to Pacific National to raise some suggestions about the handling of the company’s current wave of redundancies.
The RTBU has some serious concerns about the company’s processes to date, including the lack of a voluntary redundancy swap arrangement.
The letter you can see here is management’s reply to the union. It indicates that the company is willing to adopt some of the union’s suggestions, and also suggested that it could potentially look at a VR Swap program if the union is prepared to discuss some potential “efficiencies”.
Click here to see the letter containing the example list of labour productivity and efficiency programs the company has flagged for discussion.
No detail has been received on these points, nor has any discussion been had, however the Hunter Valley sub-division meeting recently discussed the issue at its meeting. A full report of that meeting will follow.
If you have any views on the company’s suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact your local delegate or the RTBU Newcastle based organisers.
