Staff car parking to go
Sydney/NSW Trains and Transport for NSW have recently conducted a review of staff car parks.
The review has identified seven car parks that could be converted so as to “improve customer service by increasing customer access to stations”.
This will obviously mean that the current levels of parking availability for members at some locations will be greatly reduced however, management has given an assurance that levels of staff car parking necessary to deliver operations will be maintained.
The proposed number of spots to be reclaimed are:
BLACKTOWN……………………… 84
CAMPBELLTOWN………………. 99
GOSFORD………………………….. 26
HORNSBY…………………………… 21
LIVERPOOL approximately.. 56
PENRITH……………………………. 77
WOY WOY………………………….. 8
Local consultative committees will be established at the impacted locations to work through implementation issues, and a tour of the affected car parks has been proposed for the first week of December. Issues registers for each location will be created through these visits.
Members will be kept informed as this matter progresses.
Update – union to fight cuts
The RTBU successfully demanded to be part of the review of staff car parking and delegates and officers have been involved in tours of the proposed affected stations with management already this week. More are scheduled next week.
The Union will fight to ensure adequate staff parking and claw back as many spaces as possible from the outrageous numbers being proposed by management.
The Rail entities promised not to reduce car parking for staff and we will hold them to this.
