Driver trainer numbers in dispute

Concerns have been raised over Sydney Trains’ compliance with the maximum required number of driver trainers, as outlined in the RailCorp EA.

A dispute has now been raised over the issue.

As a part of the RailCorp agreement, the agreed number of Driver Trainers is 100 and Sydney Trains have now fallen below that requirement.

This is obviously having an impact on the trainees training program with many trainees not being able to be allocated a driver trainer.

The end result of this is that trainees are left sitting in classrooms “studying”, often resulting in the training course having to be unnecessarily extended beyond the normal timeframes and delaying the trainees’ graduation.
