Aurizon Coal seeks FWC help after company fails to negotiate EA
Aurizon Coal has made an application to the Fair Work Commission calling for the independent umpire to begin conciliation hearings on the new enterprise agreement.
The move comes after negotiations between the union negotiating team and the company reached a stalemate recently, with the company refusing to budge on key issues of importance to members.
Fatigue management is one of the primary areas of contention in the agreement, along with long service leave and shift change provisions.
The company drafted the application this week, saying that it believed the parties would be unable to reach an agreement without the Commission’s assistance.
